Plan Now to Enter This Year's Fair!

Every September Upper Canada Village hosts a traditional Fall Fair where you can see the “best of the best” in 19th century agricultural products, livestock, garden-grown vegetables, crafts, cooking, handiwork and more. While most of the entries we receive each year are the result of work accomplished over the summer by Village staff here on site, we welcome the public to submit entries of their own. The catch is, ALL entries must meet the Village’s Fall Fair 1860s guidelines … (such as only natural fibres in your handi-work, and no acrylics in your paintings; please note these guidelines include categories for both heirloom and contemporary varieties of vegetables).

This year’s Fall Fair at Upper Canada Village will be held on September 16 & 17, with the Exhibit tent opening for viewing starting September 14. So get growing, raising, or designing now. Find all the details on how and what you can enter by downloading our Fall Fair Guidelines today!

Hint: Ladies, you can find all kinds of 19th century recipes on the internet or at your local libraries. However, handiwork patterns may be more difficult to find … here are some sample patterns you can download and try!

1860s Crocheted Mat
Knitted Stocking
Plain Mitten
