Book Now for a 2008 Adult Overnight Live-In Adventure

For several years Upper Canada Village has been offering popular and truly unique youth programs that allow children to immerse themselves in 1860s life. Now the opportunity exists for adults to become a part of Village life as well, when they participate in an “Adult Overnight Live-In Adventure”. From Saturday afternoon until Sunday afternoon on select weekends in 2008, adults can become 19th century Village inhabitants.

From blue jeans and t-shirts to braces and petticoats ...

The adventure will start with a familiarization tour of the Village followed by a session where participants will exchange their modern attire for a complete 1860s outfit. Tea, lemonade and cookies will be served during this session.

A hearty meal after a good day’s work ...

The rest of the stay is filled with 19th century hands-on activities such as open-hearth cooking (the Saturday evening meal), handiwork, learning trades at the bakery, tinsmith or blacksmith shops, mill work, a farm visit, a garden tour, a church service re-enactment and more.

A little song & dance ...

On Saturday evening, participants will celebrate the end of their first day back in time at Cook’s Tavern, where they will engage in some good old-fashioned singing and dancing.

Some modern conveniences ...

Participants will sleep in one of two 19th century residences known as the Blue House and the Grey House. These buildings have been outfitted with period furnishings, but also contain modern washroom and shower facilities. Unfortunately, these buildings are not accessible to wheelchairs.
