Upper Canada Village is pleased to be offering three new Fall Weekend Adult Workshops. The workshops will be held at the Guest House*, with Upper Canada Village as the backdrop.
* Please note:The Guest House can sleep 8 people (2 bedrooms with 2 beds in each, plus one larger bedroom with 4 beds).

The digital camera is now the vehicle most of us use to document our lives and travels. In this weekend course you will learn how to operate your digital camera more effectively. With your new found knowledge and practice, you will make a photo essay of Upper Canada Village, learning simple techniques in taking effective portraits of people in the outdoors, how to enhance your landscape image, and how to add emotion to your pictures, all the while getting the most out of the tools you have at hand.

This course will appeal to beginners and possibly intermediate users of digital cameras.

This enriching two-day course at Upper Canada Village’s Guest House offers a no-pressure, relaxing weekend on the beautiful St. Lawrence where students will learn from experienced art teachers. The course is designed for beginners or those who have some familiarity with the medium and would like to extend their knowledge. Working with simple arrangements, the class will cover techniques, colour theory and practice and mixing colours, all with an emphasis on personal expression.

Upper Canada Village provides the ideal setting to learn 19th century quilting and rugmaking. Students will have the opportunity to view samples of quilts and rugs from the Village’s own collection during a tour of the various homes on site. Upper Canada Village handwork specialists will teach hand-quilting techniques, following 19th century patterns; hooked, shirred and braided rugmaking techniques will also be explored. Students will take home a quilted pin cushion or pot holder and a hot pad.
