Lots to See at Antique Car Show - Sunday, August 19

On Sunday, August 19, Upper Canada Village and the Cornwall Olde Car Club will be presenting an Antique Car Show from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., where over 500 vintage vehicles, plus some new “ultra modern” OC Transpo buses, are expected to gather. And there’s more ...

The Antique Car Show will feature a collection of antique and classic cars from a variety of clubs throughout the region, alongside a special display of 19th century wagons and carriages. These vintage vehicles will be on display for public viewing west of the miniature train outside of the Village, and this year will include steam engines and antique “Hit an Miss” engines” presented by The Golden Triangle Steam and Antique Preservers Association. Owners of antique or classic cars are welcome to participate in the show; registration will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon for a fee of $10. The first 300 cars to register the day of the event will receive a collector car plaque.

This year OC Transpo will be bringing two of its newest “ultra modern” buses to the site with free rides being offered in the afternoon around the Queen Elizabeth Gardens. Visitors will also be able to participate in the Spectator’s Choice Award throughout the day and a number of different trophies will be awarded at a special ceremony at 3:00 p.m. Admission to the Antique Car Show outside of the Village is FREE.

The Miniature Train outside the Village will also be in operation, where visitors can hop on board for a round trip through Crysler Park to Crysler Beach and back. Round trip fare is only $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for Youths and $1.00 for children; best of all, the fare includes admission to Crysler Beach.

Picnic Lunches-To-Go can be picked up at the Village Café, adjacent to the Village Store located near the Car Show for only $20 for two (additional lunches cost $10 per person; an extra $7 deposit is required for the basket and tablecloth that is refundable when returned).

As an enhancement to the Car Show, visitors can also choose to make a visit to Upper Canada Village part of their day (regular admission fees apply), where they can witness the transportation of an 1860s rural community in action. They can also learn about the progression of various modes of travel in the Transportation Museum at Loucks Farm.

Willard’s Hotel Restaurant in the heart of the Village will be staying open for dinner on the evening of the Car Show, (as well as Friday and Saturday evenings, August 17 & 18) with the last seating at 7:00 p.m. Reservations to dine are required in advance by calling (613) 543-0660.
