Time Travellers Try-a-Camp

Historical Discovery Camp for Boys and Girls ages 8 – 11

This 3-day version of the Time Travellers Camp is geared to children whose families are looking for a shorter camp experience. Each session begins Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. and ends Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

Do you have a child who is interested in overnight camps but doesn’t want to be away from home for a whole week? Time Travellers Try-a-Camp is an ideal introduction to the overnight camp experience.

Eligibility and Notification of Acceptance

The program is open to boys and girls aged 8 to 11 as of June 1st. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 campers per session. Applications are reviewed to ensure they are complete, and that applicants meet the eligibility criteria. All criteria being met, campers are selected and assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of April. They will receive a confirmation letter, a "what to bring" list (also available below), and a health history form.

Accommodations

Participants stay in one of our 19th-century residences. These buildings have been outfitted with period furnishings, but also contain modern washroom and shower facilities.

Meals

Campers eat in a dedicated dining hall separate from the public area of the site. Our camp kitchen and dining hall are nut-free, however, the children spend significant portions of their day sharing spaces with the general public where contact with food is beyond our control. Please also note that while we make efforts to accommodate dietary requests, we cannot guarantee that all requests can be met.  For more information, please contact us at UCVyouthcamps@parks.on.ca

Supervision

Round-the-clock supervision and direction is provided by camp staff and interpretive staff working in Upper Canada Village.

What to Bring - Below is a helpful list of what to bring to the camp. Clothing, toiletries, bedding, and other items. Also some tips on what NOT to bring to camp.
