Miniature Train (The Moccasin)

In September 2010, a brand new train, a C. P. Huntington Locomotive was put into service.  The train is named ‘The Moccasin’ in honour of the real Moccasin train that played such an integral role within the community and is recognized as Canada’s longest running named train, with operations from November 19, 1855 to August 9, 1958 on the Grand Trunk Railway between Brockville and Montreal.  The train station is named for Farran’s Point, one of the Lost Villages after Seaway construction.

The new train is a scaled replica of an 1860s locomotive featuring a fully accessible car and special effects along the route telling the story of the Battle of Crysler's Farm.  The track is brand new with the route travelling along the river through Crysler Heritage Park with sweeping views of the St. Lawrence River and the memorial mound.  In addition, the route is designed to provide good sight lines for some of the various memorials – like the monument recognizing the United Empire Loyalists – and visitors can explore the area on foot after disembarking from the train.

The train route has been extended and starting in May 2011, riders will have the option of the original shorter loop which travels from Upper Canada Village to Crysler Beach or a longer route which travels from Upper Canada Village to Crysler Park Marina.
