Quilt Show and Fantastic Fibres Weekend
Beauty and functionality come together to celebrate the art of quilting against the colourful spring backdrop of Upper Canada Village. Displays will include quilts entered in the 2014 Challenge 'Village Gardens', an amazing array of contemporary works from quilting guilds across Eastern Ontario, and both antique quilts and historical reproductions from Upper Canada Village’s own collection. Eavesdrop at an 1860s quilting bee and attend specialty quilt talks. Other fibre artists including spinners, weavers, knitters and lace-makers will be on site.
Hilary Rice an award-winning Textile & Mixed Media artist will be at the Quilt Show as both a workshop teacher and guest speaker. Ms. Rice has developed a strong presence in the quilt art world across Canada marketing her line of art quilt patterns under the 'Mother Earth' label and teaching art and design based workshops. Her art will be on display as part of her talks at Upper Canada Village’s Quilt Show. Rice’s work has been displayed widely both in national and international shows and recently, Ms. Rice has become a fully certified judge with the Canadian Quilter's Association. 2014 Upper Canada Village Quilt Challenge - to register for the 2014 Quilt Challenge, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Iroquois, Ontario native and former Upper Canada Village Young Interpreter Emily Millard will be performing during the Fantastic Fibres weekend!
