Pioneer Pals Day Camp
A Historical Day Camp for Boys and Girls

Pioneer Pals Upper Canada Village offers a summer day camp for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 10 (by July 1st, 2008). As Pioneer Pals, kids become modern-day explorers discovering the past through fun and adventure, while making new and "old" friends along the way.

Pioneer Pal activities include:

  • Explore within Upper Canada Village to learn about the farm animals and other activities on site
  • Play historically-themed games such as "Charades, Stealing Sticks, the Cat and the Mouse" and more
  • Listen to stories of 19th century "adventures"
  • Join in dress-up at the Family Activity Centre
  • Make Heritage crafts
  • Learn songs about the 1860s
  • Take a horse-drawn ride to learn about how people traveled in the past
All activities take place within the historic setting of Upper Canada Village Heritage Park. A Day Camp Centre located near the front entrance to the Village serves as a meeting place for indoor activities and lunchtime (children are asked to bring their own lunches). Activities are themed around a different aspect of pioneer life each day of the week.

"Pioneer Pals " are led by trained and friendly day camp leaders, who will take your child on a fun-filled exploration of the past. Eight camp sessions are being offered through July and August. Each session is 5 days, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (for your convenience, drop-off time is as early as 8:30 a.m. and pick-up time as late as 5:30 p.m.).

Program Fee (2008)
Per week/per child $178.50 (plus GST).
Each additional sibling - same week $136.50 (plus GST).
