Youth Programs

Throughout the season, Upper Canada Village offers programs that provide youth the opportunity to discover the past through meaningful participation.

These programs allow the participants to develop inquiry and communication skills in a real life environment, while demonstrating connections among people, ideas and events.

"Living History" School and Group Programs
Canada's Past is brought to life as students immerse themselves in hands-on historical experiences! Spend up to one full day at Upper Canada Village in our Self-Guided Exploration Tours, participate in our specialty half-day Battle of Crysler's Farm - War of 1812 program, or experience our Overnight Live-In Adventure. Time Travellers
Time Travellers are children between the ages of 9 and 13 who assume the role of a 1860s child in the Village for a week, dressing in period costume, and eating and sleeping in one of two 19th century residences. Click here for more info ...

Young Interpreters
Young Interpreters are children between the ages of 10 and 15 who come to Upper Canada Village on three succeeding weekends during the summer months or four weekends in the spring and fall, to help portray life in the 1860s. Click here for more info ...

Senior YI's
The Senior YI (Youth Interpreter) Program is geared to former Time Travellers and Young Interpreters, now 15, 16 or 17 years of age, who are interested in further developing their hands-on historical skills, knowledge and experience of historical interpretation, research skills, and leadership skills.
