Celebrating All Things Horses at Upper Canada Village

Horse Lovers Weekend runs September 3-5, 2022 with special presentation September 4: RCMP Musical Ride

From Saturday, September 3 until Monday, September 5, Upper Canada Village celebrates the integral role horses have played in Canada’s history since the 1600s with its Horse Lovers Weekend.

All weekend long there will be demonstrations of horse-powered jobs performed by working horses, including the opportunity for horse-drawn rides around the Village by wagon, carryall or by boat. To make it a proper celebration, there will also be music and dancing.

On Sunday afternoon (Sept 4), Upper Canada Village welcomes the iconic RCMP Musical Ride for a performance at 2:00 p.m., followed by a meet and greet with the RCMP and their horses at 2:30 p.m.

Horse-loving programs run all day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Tickets are available on our website. The weekend’s events, including the Musical Ride, are included in admission prices.

One of the largest living-history museums in Canada, Upper Canada Village invites guests to step back in time to 1866 and experience rural village life. The Village offers an immersive experience with more than 40 historic buildings, traditional trades, farming, music and 19th century social life.
