Extend Your Summer Fun This Fall in Eastern Ontario with St. Lawrence Parks Commission Attractions
Eastern Ontario – Summer may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the end of cultural and recreational experiences or family fun in Eastern Ontario. Upper Canada Village, Fort Henry, and Kingston Pen Tours have all been ranked in the top 10% of attractions worldwide, making them must-visit destinations this season.
St. Lawrence Parks Commission (SLPC) properties remain open after Labour Day with modified hours and programming:
Upper Canada Village
- Open daily for regular programming until September 15, 2024, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the exception of Sept. 3, 9, 10.
- 1860s Fall Fair & Quilt Show Weekend Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15 – included in Village Admission.
- Pumpkinferno begins September 27 and runs Wednesday to Sunday evenings to October 22 and nightly from October 23 to October 31; open Thanksgiving Monday, October 14.
Fort Henry
- Open for fall programming Wednesday-Sunday, September 4 to 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (admission available until 4:00 p.m. but last guided tour departs at 3:30 p.m.).
- Guided tours in English and French are available.
- Fort Fright opens on September 27 and runs select evenings until October 31.
- Terror Tuesdays, horror film screenings, October 1, 8, 15, 22.
Kingston Pen Tours
- Express, Standard and Extended Tours available daily until Sunday, September 29, 2024. Starting October 2, open 5 days a week, Wednesday to Sunday until October 31.
- Open Thanksgiving Monday, October 14.
- Kingston residents receive a 20% discount off their tour ticket.
- Pumpkinferno on select evenings from September 27 to October 30.
Crysler Park Marina
- Open for seasonal and transient docking until October 20.
Upper Canada Golf Course
- Open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 1 to September 30 (weather dependent).
- Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., October 1 to October 31 (weather dependent).
Parks of the St. Lawrence Campgrounds
- Fall camping offers a serene and peaceful experience, with fewer crowds and the beauty of vibrant autumn foliage. The cooler temperatures make it perfect for cozy campfires, stargazing, and enjoying the crisp, fresh air.
- Camping: Types of sites: basic, two service (water/hydro), three service (water/hydro/sewage), premium waterfront (along the St. Lawrence River). Last night to book: September 14: Mille Roche Campground; September 21: Brown’s Bay Campground; October 13: Glengarry Campground, Woodlands Campground, Riverside-Cedar Campground, and McLaren Campground.
- Cabins: Cabin details available at www.parks.on.ca. Last night to book: September 14: Mille Roche Campground; October 13: Woodlands Campground; October 26: Farran Park Campground, Ivy Lea Campground, McLaren Campground, Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary Campground, and Crysler Park Marina Campground.
Beaches & Day Use Areas
- Brown’s Bay Beach & Day Use Area will remain open daily September 1 to 22, with the canteen open Saturdays and Sundays in September.
- Mille Roches Beach will be open Saturdays and Sundays until September 15.
- Farran Park Beach and Glengarry Beach remain open daily until October 9.
- The Long Sault Parkway will be open until November 15, weather dependent.
