Experience history with a re-enactment of “The Battle That Saved Canada”

The Battle of Crysler’s Farm Re-enactment returns! Step into the authentically recreated camps of the British and American army during the War of 1812. Meet period merchants, artisans and sutlers who come together to create a large display of living military history. Watch re-enactment battles near the Battle of Crysler’s Farm Memorial Building, next door to Upper Canada Village.

Event Information

Gates Open 9:30am- 4:00pm

  • 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – British and American Military Encampments. Self-guided and guided tours – please inquire please inquire at the Battle Memorial Building
  • 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Period demonstrations and displays, including blacksmithing, surgery, cooking and other artisans. (With breaks during battle)
  • 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. – Drill by military personnel. (Various times)
  • 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. – Demonstration of English Country Dancing (Saturday only)
  • 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. – Re-enactment activities – (On the battlefield just west of the Crysler’s Farm Battle Memorial Building.)
  • 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. – Preparation for children’s muster. Put on coat, take up a musket. Learn drill and marching to know what soldiers do during the battle.
  • 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. – Military music from the early 19th century performed by the 100th regiment band.
  • 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. – Interpretation and re-enactment of the Battle of Crysler’s Farm – 11 November 1813.
  • 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. – Speak with soldiers and find out about their equipment, weapons, how a musket works, watch blacksmithing, period surgery and much more. (Military encampments)
  • The Artillery Experience – Fire a cannon! Up to 5 participants per “crew” with one person doing the firing. Includes a short historical talk. (On the battlefield). $75 per firing – Tickets available at the Registration Tent
