Crysler’s Farm National Historic Site Total Solar Eclipse

Join us on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 1pm-4:30pm, at Battle of Crysler’s Farm National Historic Site, for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Witness the magic of a total solar eclipse with the St. Lawrence River as your backdrop.

In a total solar eclipse, the moon will completely cover the sun, creating a celestial spectacle visible from our historic grounds. Immerse yourself in the science and wonder of this rare cosmic event that will last almost three minutes – one which only occurs every few hundred years.

Get FREE eclipse glasses, indulge in eclipse-themed music as well as tasty treats by food and drink vendors.

Rain or shine, don’t miss this unique outdoor event! Limited seating, so bring your own chair. Upper Canada Village closed on April 8; opens May 4. Portable washrooms provided. Expect a 1km walk from parking to prime viewing spot.

The eclipse occurs from 2:12pm to 4:35pm. Totality will last from 3:24:38pm to 3:26:45pm.

    Partial begins: 2:12:02 pm

    Full begins: 3:24:38 pm

    Maximum: 3:25:41 pm

    Full ends: 3:26:45 pm

    Partial ends: 4:35:41 pm

Parking

Paid parking is available – one parking pass per vehicle is required. Parking is limited and first come first served.

Pre-Purchase Parking Pass Online

General parking will be available at:

Upper Canada Village main parking lot and Crysler Beach Parking lot. (Enter at Upper Canada Village main entrance.)

Accessible parking will be available at:

Battle Memorial parking lot. (Enter at Upper Canada Village main entrance)

All vehicles parking in this area lot will need a government issued accessible parking permit.

Bus drop-off, parking, and pick up:

Drop off: East of Rose Garden (enter at Upper Canada Village main entrance)

Parking: Morrisburg Airport airstrip (enter at Maintenance Road once passengers are dropped off) or Golf Course parking lot (enter at Upper Canada Golf Course entrance).

Pick up: Along road of main entrance Rose Garden loop.

Any vehicle large than a personal passenger van will be considered a bus. A commercial van would be a bus.

General

The Eclipse viewing is open to all ages!

The Eclipse event is held outdoors with limited indoor activities and will proceed rain or shine. In cloudy weather, you’ll still experience the eclipse uniquely, with potential partial obstruction. All other activities will continue as planned.

In case of extreme inclement weather, event closure will be announced on Upper Canada Village’s website and social media.

Yes, portable washrooms will be available.

Only service animals are permitted on the grounds.

Smoking and vaping are not permitted.

Accessibility

Yes, however, please be aware that the event area has varied terrain. While there are paved pathways, some areas have slopes and gravel terrain. We recommend an all-terrain wheelchair for guests who require it.

Accessible Parking will be available at the Battle Memorial parking lot. Enter via Upper Canada Village. Please note this is only accessible with a government issued parking pass.

Additionally, expect a 1km distance from parking to prime viewing spot.

Food & Retail

Yes, BeaverTails will be available onsite.

Programming

Upper Canada Village will be closed on April 8 though will open to the public on Saturday, May 4, 2024, for the season.

No, the miniature train will not be operating.

Yes, guests are welcome to visit this museum dedicated to the 1813 Battle of Crysler’s Farm, located at the bottom of the memorial mound.
