One of the largest living-history museums in Canada, Upper Canada Village invites guests to step back in time to 1866 and experience rural village life. The Village offers an immersive experience with more than 40 historic buildings, traditional trades, farming, music and 19th century social life. Upper Canada Village opens to guests starting May 4, 2024.

Get ready to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday in grand style at Upper Canada Village. Sing along to the classic anthem "God Save the Queen" and be captivated by historical patriotic speeches that will transport you back in time. You'll see grand military manoeuvres’, lace up for the 1860s athletic games, watch the Village’s “Queen” in action (a hand-pumped fire engine), and enjoy refreshments.

How does wool go from keeping a sheep warm to making wool sweaters? Drop in at the Main Barn on Loucks Farm to see and learn about sheep shearing as the farm staff shear the Village flock by hand. Then, visit the McDiarmid Home and Asselstine’s water-powered Woollen Factory to learn more about the washing of fleece, carding, spinning and weaving by hand and using the latest 1860s machinery. War of 1812 Battle of Crysler’s Farm Battlefield Re-enactment Weekend

Presented by the Friends of Crysler Farm Battlefield Experience history with a re-enactment of "The Battle That Saved Canada" The Battle of Crysler’s Farm Re-enactment returns! Step into the authentically recreated camps of the British and American army during the War of 1812. Meet period merchants, artisans and sutlers who come together to create a large display of living military history. Emancipation Day Celebration

Thursday, August 1st, 2024 In collaboration with the Black Legacy Collective, join us at Upper Canada Village for a day of reflection, education, and celebration of Emancipation Day. This significant event commemorates the historic abolition of slavery in the British Empire in 1834 and honours the enduring journey towards resilience and triumphs of Black communities, and equality and justice. This year's Emancipation Day Celebration ties in seamlessly with Upper Canada Village's new Black History Exhibit, which was inaugurated earlier this year. British Home Child Museum

Visit the special exhibit set up at the Aultsville Train Station by volunteers from the Ontario East British Home Child Family. Between 1869 and 1940s, over 100,000 children from the British Isles were sent to Canada to work as indentured labourers in the homes and farms of this country. These children are known as British Home Children, and many came to Eastern Ontario. This is your opportunity to find out more about British Home Children through stories and artifacts.
